6 GB wasting space?

Thanks for your quick comments. According to you, since there is no way to avoid the current file management method, can I say that 1 GB disk space may only be able to store 800 or 900 Mb files, if they are composed of many files? But, I mean, 6 GB wasting space is not a small number.

Any further advice? Appeciate your help.
