SOS: WinSock problem

I use cable modem to access internet (wired). Now I get msg 'Limited or no connectivity' for the network connection, and the autoconfig IP address is 169.254.158.68. My computer alerted with virus couple of days ago. I did some research on the internet, might be winsock registry got modified. I downloaded WinSockFix, but when WinsockFix tried to backup the registry, got msg "Error saving file C:\ERDNT\SECURITY !". Folder C:\ERDNT exists. What could be wrong?
Any other way to make internet connection work? Thanks a lot!!!!!
