Please Help: DVD drive in notebook does not work

Before today, the DVD drive works fine, today I bought some software for my daughter, but it seems like does not work, then I put the usual dvd disk inside, but it does not work now? Does anyone know what is wrong with my dvd driver inside the notebook? Is it unused for ever? What should I do? Thanks for lot!!!
