Help please!!! waiting online...

Can someone tell me what happened with my BF's Mac? He stayed at my place last night and left his labtop closed but in "sleep" mode.Next morning, in the log on history shows "computer wake" at 2:56.57am then it was closed at 2:57am. We both did not even touch the computer until this morning. Now he thinks I tried to log onto his computer in middle of the night, I can not make him trust me but I really want to know why this happened. Can someone PLEASE help me???
