Help Needed - Laptop Sound

My laptop (Compaq) lost sound.

The three function keys for the volume control don’t work now.
The mute key seems to be locked, the key with signal light is always on. No matter which key I hit, the light of the mute key light is always on and the other two keys don’t work at all.

Any advise of getting the sound back is much appreciated.
