personal PC question

The disk in my PC died and It has 3 partition and first primary partition had problem. So I put an very old disk in, when I run window xp reinstall CD, nothing happened.

And I tried to put the damaged disk as slave, the boot menu configuration can only see primary disk.

Can anyone here help me? Thanks for your help!
