The requirement is your notebook having a WIFI adapter. To check it, I am assuming you are using a XP or 2000:

1) Right mouse click My Conputer at your desktop
2) Click Hardware
3) Click Device Manager
4) Click Network adapters

One of then items is the Ethernet card. Look at another one - if it says something like xxxx 802.11 WLAN, you have got it.
