you have to tell your current settings.

e.g.
if your physical mem. 512MB, you may set the v. mem 256MB - 1024MB.

If your physical mem. 1GB, you may set the v. mem 512MB - 2GB

but also make you have enough space on disk drive where the v. mem is specified.
