关于cable modem的疑问。。。

请教内行是否有此说法，想了解的详细些。

我上周六安装的cable modem, 按完后速度非常慢，比dialup 56k还慢好多。今天technician来了，检查后说，cable信号太强了。现在是17，应该range不超过5。后来给调成7左右，现在速度还好，说再往下调，要到大楼的配电室里去调。
