HELP-restart problem (Win XP)

I got a VAIO notebook(PCG-GRX560, WIN XP) which started pissing me off several days ago.Whenever I choose to restart the computer or it atomatically restarts after I install some updates or softwares,it stops responding while the power indicator stays on. I got to use the power on/off switch to turn it off. After that it can not be turned on until I wait for about 10 minutes or so. Otherwise this computer works fine. Any idea on what is going on?
