Then forget about Celeron. It won't do any good to you.

If the price is good in Core Duo or Core 2 Duo, go for them. Core Duo and Core 2 Duo make no different to you if you are not a gammer. If you will consider cheaper price, AMD X2 is another choice.

For your current tasks requirement, solo core is way enough but not Celeron(2 hot like others said). You can chose core solo or AMD Sempron or MK-36. MK-36 is the high-end solo core with latest interface. Sempron is also a good choice. Unlike Intel, AMD cut half of Turion X2 and made it into Sempron. So everything is the same except a single core and much less power consumption(25W vs. 33W). Core Solo is a bit of obsolete now.
