Your power plug will provide slightly higher voltage than your battery. That is how your battery been charged through circuit. As long as your battery is full, the charging current is reduced to minium so that your battery stop drain current from charging circuit.

Today's battery has internal power management logic that won't drain any current when capacity is beyond 95% something.
