after you installed TrueImage, open trueImage, there are menu options:

1. create image
2. restore image
3. create bootable CD or removable media
...

for 3, create one CD, you can use for all image restorations (for different computer's image), it is a small

what you really normally do is
1 and 2

select 1, then select a disk or a partition to create image
you need to specify where to save the image file.

how long it will take depends on how big the disk or partitioon is as well as the compression rate you picked.

for task 2, you can reach by
boot computer via trueImage bootable CD you created
