How to make my screen saver work?

My screen saver worked before, few days ago, it suddenly not works anymore. It looks OK from the screen saver properties. I use Window XP

Another question, How can make my system restore work? My system was moved as a whole from an old hard drive to my new hard disk through the software coming with the new hard drive
