How was the mistake made?

A friend of mine saw a TV AD. He mistakenly thought it was about dell's laptop, and he knew I was trying to buy a laptop. so he told me about that "good deal". Anyway, there has never been such a Ad on TV in the first place.

So I called up dell sales department. A lady with even heavier accent than mine answered my call. I told her that I needed the kind of laptop advertised on TV. I think that is the first potential miscommunication there. Even though the word "laptop" popped out several times in the process of phone order, and also immediately before the end of that phone order, the lasy did not realize she ordered me a wrong product. I asked the lady if the product she ordered for me is a laptop, the answer was very positive. The lady was pretty sure she ordered the "right" product for me. Now I am thinking she may not know anything about that product at all, just like the buyer--me.

But the mistake can be easily corrected. So it is not too bad. I have not lost a thing.
