Child support is based on how much the child needs, not on how much he makes. Theoretically, the total child's need will be separated between two parents (based on earning of both of you). Practically, the portion of child need from you will be paid to you (you paid to youself for the child use).

Since you have ability to make enough money, while you give up, he may not have obiligation to support you. If you want to start a business (business investment is similar to (PhD) education investment), how much do you think he should support your starting a business?
