My son does plan to use his name on his car and have his own car insurance. But, still, in case of a big accident, the other party can still put parents for liable, because you support his education. Only after he is above 21, then he is only one responsible for the accident.

However, I heard someone said that one could go to court to declare something, then the parents will not be liable for their son's car accidents.
