Thanks for your reply. However, based on my understanding, as far as you support your son for the school, you can be liable when your son's insurance can not cover the accident, no matter whose name on the car title or insuance.

Actually, we have half M car insurance and 2M umbrella insurance. Still, lots of rich people in California, once you hit these people, all your assets will be gone.
