Patrick Soon-Shiong (黄馨祥) 1952年在南非出生. 23岁获得南非医学学位.
他先在 the University of British Columbia 获得Master of Science 学位.　然后在 University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) 完成外科训练。从1983年到1991年, 任教于UCLA Medical School.
