长远（几十上百年后）应该是方向。Automated driving/highway system should be more efficient and less prone to accident. I can't imagine tens of thousands of Star Wars type of "sky cars" being handled by human--they just don't have strong enough "force". Most people drive today because they need to get from place to place. I suspect that many would be happy to give up the wheel if they could afford a chauffeur:-) Of course, there will always be people who enjoy driving itself, just like there are still people who prefer manual shift than automatic, but they will be in the minority.
