last 500 yrs., largely because of their good system allowing technology and innovation (most modern inventions and scientific discoveries have been made by them) to thrive, so they can conque the world.  They have made tremendous contributions for the whole world (of course, especially them) to enjoy, including you and me (I'm typing in a computer and communicate w/ you and others via internet).  Certainly they took land and killed  natives, but they made something good out of the land they took.  During about the same time, Tai Ping Tian Guo, Li Zhicheng and Zhang Xianzhong, and Manchurians,... killed millions of (their own!) people, w/ much more savage and cruety.....And for many yrs., they were sang as heroes...
