回复：Property tax is normally about 1% and health insurance a few

in US.  Even with these, the tax is still MUCH lower in Europe where the sales tax is about 17-19% (compared with 5-10% here).  Federal tax rate for professors in europe and Australia is over 35% (and the salary is quite a bit lower)!
