It is absolutely the worst case when your enthusiasm on your work is fading. I had the same exprience when I graduated from my Ph.D program. What I did back then was finding something else I was very interested and switched to it quickly. I have been in this field for more 6 years ever since and still love it.
It is also absolutely true that you have to love what you do if you want to be successful. That is why i think you are in a bad situation. The motivation fading normally is an irreversible process. It would be hard to regain it once lost. Working hard would be happy thing if you love what you are doing, and otherwise would be your suffering. There is no such a power in the whole world that can force you put your heart and soul on the work and enjoy it except your love for what you are doing.
