I can't 100% sure whether overall traders in hedge fund are paid better than those in i-banking. And hedge funds are different in size, performance... It's not necessary to be a financial star to become a fund manager, but they prefer to ppl with strong quantitative background and outstanding academic results. If you wanna be a sales manager in fund, taking MBA may also works.
