What is your life style in TX?

If you have a single family house in TX. Your income can afford a 300K single family house in TX, and the hosues in TX is cheap. To get that knid of house (3000 sf, 1 acer land) in Shanghai, you probably need 10 million in Shanghai.

I assume you have a car in TA. For a very moderate car like Accord and Camery, it cost $20K in the US, but cost lot more in Shanghai.

So, it all depends on your life style in TX, You may meed 3 million RMB/yr to maintain yoru life style in TX.

Sure, we all know food is cheap in China, but that's not your main expense anyway.
