Starting tomorrow, Ontario will be replacing the Carling Avenue Westbound Bridges on Highway 417 in less than 24 hours.
A crew of more than 100 workers will use state-of-the-art technology to lift, move and replace the 55 year-old, 600-tonne bridges overnight. Traditionally, a complete bridge replacement could take two to three years. Rapid bridge replacement ensures minimal disruptions for drivers while reducing project costs and the cost to the region's economy due to traffic congestion and delays.
Investing in modern infrastructure is part of the government's plan to create jobs, ensure Ontario seizes new opportunities for economic growth and help people in their everyday lives.
