I may stay abroad until next May, can I e-fill the IRS tax exten

I let a friend collect my mails when I am abroad. So it is better for me to
come back to finish my Tax Forms.
I never do this before.
Whether I can e-fill the IRS tax extension form?
If not, whether I can hand in the IRS tax extension form before I leave USA?
(This December)
