“In the last 15 years I have bought only Toyota vehicles, this in fact would happen, I never had an accident I learned to drive my Toyotas with the defect. Both of my Corollas would do this two of my sons totaled my cars because of this malfunction. No death nor injuries just wrecks. by the time the cars were wrecked I had already purchased anew car so it really didn't affect me, but the kids had to get their own vehicles. With that said it was not human error, lack of licenses, drunk drive, the car would accelerate for about 30 secs. or less. before it would start to break, it usually happened when I was driving about 55 miles per hour or more. I don't hug the bumper of the car in front of me so it gave me a chance to slow down before any impact. The 1st time it happened it scared me, I actually tested it on a sunday morning and it happened again, this taught me to not be close to vehicles if I was going fast. That's how I survived the debacle of this defect both my Corollas, Yaris, my sons Avalon. I really can't say Toyota knew, I didn't complain because I figured it out and made adjustments to my driving habits. I drive 200,000 miles every 3 1/2 years, that's why so many cars and that is why I know my vehicles the average joe will not figure it out. You call and complain and they basically tell u they will look into it nothing happens and in my case I moved on and just made myself a better driver. Some class action lawsuit that I didn't do anything about sent me 54.00 that was ridiculous. ”

“I attended court yesterday (1-20-15) and they read the depositions of the two Toyota employees who said they designed the accelerator control system (a.k.a. throttle body) for the '96 Camry. They are high school graduates with no college education and no degree. One of them had one month of on-the-job training at Toyota before he moved into the design dept.”
