You are dancing (misleading).  You are comparing Escape's turbo to RAV4's regular 4-cylinder.  Turbo needs premium gas and usually have better gas mileage compare to regular engine with similar performance and with higher manufacture cost and thus the price.  Escapes 2.5L 4-cylinder has lower gas mileage than RAV4's 4-cylinder and lower horse power and torgue rating.  It's a fairer comparison.
