Usually, it will need a fuel pressure test first. It will cost half hour to one hour labor.
if it is the fuel pump, then, most of places ask for 2-3 hours labor plus parts.
for some unknown reasons, the pump is quite expensive. a bare pump will cost at least 100 USD while the whole set up will cost 150-200 from autozone. plus you have to have the strainer and filter changed as well. sometimes, you need fuel lines, some hose fasteners as well. so the parts can run into 180-200.
For the one on my villager, i got quote from 4 different places, the cheapest quote i got from my mechanic is parts plus 120 USD labor. the highest is from the mercury dealer, it was close to 600 USD. So, I did it on my own to save that 120 USD. I swear I would not do it again to save that 120 USD. it is a no-brainer's job, but the location made it harder. It took me almost five hours to finish.
How much do you charge for your labor, master mao?
