The question which car is tougher is irrelevant here. The safety of passengers is the first and only thing we should concern. The real question is whether the newly designed 'soft' cars are safer than their grand-daddy. The answer is definitely YES.

No doubt that new design of Volvo V70 / X60 / X90 will be much safer, but new Renault is also proven to be a safe car in this experiment. The fact that the passenger may be able to walk away after such a terrible crash is an excellent prove that 'crashing zone' design is very effective.
