generally speaking japanese cars are unsafe, some may have design issues, I wouldn't buy one.  BUT, BUT, if it's a screaming (I mean a major, give-away, scrap value kind of) deal, AND pass a thorough and rigorous inspection, AND have verifiable service records, i might consider it.
