advice needed on used suv: volvo xc90 vs grand cherokee

which is safer?

I tested drove a 2006 GC Laredo. Doors felt kinda thin. Does it mean door thicker (feeling) is safer? Or not related?

How is used xc90 reliability (2004-2006)? Can it be repaired at non-volvo-dealer mechanic? Thanks.
