SRS LIGHT ON : ACCORD 2001

From yesterday, the RED SRS light is always on. I googled and can not get the desired result, I want to know:
1. If I continue to drive as it is, what the worst result could happen? Will the air bag be disabled or it may pop up un expectedly?
2. Dealer will need $92 to start checking...For such an old car, I do not want to spend big money(>$500) to maintain un necessary stuff, such as cosmetic appearance. I used it as a truck for my rental business, since I have a rack on top which can carry big board...
