After your car runs for a while, say, 1 hr, open the hood and touch the radiator cap--but don't try to open it. (It is vey hot and dangous, if you open the cap) If the cap is hot, every thing is working fine.

You didn't say what is your other car. Diffenrent engine has different engine capacity and different amount of cooland inside the engine. Maybe Toyota has relatively less coolant inside, or better engine material which conduct heat quicker, or the temp sensor is bit closer to hot part of the engine...who knows.. as long as your coolant is moving around, and your engine is not overheating... don't worry about it.
Of course, if you just purchased the car, it would be a good idea to take it to a garage have someone look at it.
