Update: Victim Identified in Fatal Collision in Rockville
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate the fatal collision that occurred yesterday evening in Rockville.
On July 29 at approximately 7:00 p.m., a Toyota Camry collided with a Ford Taurus and a Toyota Corolla in the 16000 block of Crabbs Branch Road in Rockville. The preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2003 Toyota Camry with Maryland tags, driven by Jun Xiang Zhang, age 32, of the 7600 block of Moccasin Lane in Derwood, was traveling in a soundbound direction on Crabbs Branch Way. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control and struck the right southbound curb. The driver overcorrected, lost control and crossed into the northbound lane. There it collided with a gray 2008 Ford Taurus with Maryland tags, driven by Jenny Marie Teixeira, age 32, of the 18700 Purple Martin Lane in Gaither*****urg. The blue 1996 Toyota Corolla, driven by Alfredo Delcid, age 37, of the 8300 block of Amity Circle in Gaither*****urg, subsequently rear-ended the Ford Taurus.
The driver of the Toyota Camry, Jun Xiang Zhang, was transported to Suburban Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The adult male front-seat passenger, Qihong Sun, age 34, of the 7600 block of Moccasin Lane in Derwood, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing his seat belt. The adult back-seat passenger, Bo Tang, unknown age and unconfirmed address, was transported to Suburban Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford Taurus, Jenny Marie Teixeira, was transported to Washington Hospital Center’s MedSTAR Trauma Unit with non-life-threatening injuries. Her two rear passengers, Emily Marie Teixeira, age 3, who was in a child safety seat behind the driver, was not injured but transported to Children’s Hospital for a routine check-up. Brandon Matias Teixeira, age 5, who was in a booster seat behind the front-seat passenger, was transported to Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Toyota Corolla, Alfredo Delcid, was not injured and remained at the scene. His front-seat passenger, Douglas Daniel Rodriguez, age 15, of the 8300 block of Amity Circle in Gaither*****urg, was not injured. The rear-seat passenger, Sandra Argueta, age 6, was not injured. Seatbelt use by the passengers remains under investigation.
