1. Dont insure your home and car with the same company. The discount is not worth the deductable. Of course, not everybody hit their garage at regular basis.

2. Dont insure your car and gap insurance with the same company. During the accident, your insurance will likely to have you keep the damaged car than trash it.

3. Based on your statement, it is 2 separate incident. The way you told story was wrong.
