丰田Lexus加州车毁人亡事故的一个（道听途说的）细节

从来没有打开过Lexus车门，所以以下只是听来的故事。有兴趣的同胞可以实地（实车）看一下。

Lexus有一个“emergence stop button”-这本身是个好主意。从工程的角度，这个东西很不好设计：

Case: 如果一按就停 - 很可能不想停的时候停在Highway上了；

因此，Lexus的“emergence stop button”是time-based。准确地说，是按了三秒以后，车才会停。

加州毁车事件中，驾驶员如何操作不得而知。可以想象（至少）有两种方式：
1. 按“emergence stop button”，没动静 （要三秒），然后慌了手脚；
2. 按“emergence stop button”，过了三秒还是没停-软件故障。

当然，导致这个车失控（i.e., "pedal-get-stuck")本身就是设计问题，不是用floor mat, pedal length 可以解释的。
