1 to 2 is hard to be smooth because

the gear ratio difference is very big.

Likely RPM drops too much when you release the clutch. You may try to smoothly give a little gas in the meantime smoothly releasing clutch. Smoothly here means no pause at any point, not too fast, not too slow, but constant relatively slow speed.

Practice more and after a few thousand miles, you will be much better.

Having said that, slight jerk from 1 to 2 shift is no big deal.
