I also got a big crack in the windshield today, which definitely needs to be replaced. It is a Honda accord.
I called a couple of places, and have some quotes:
Honda dealer 1: ~600 (labor + parts)
Honda dealer 2: ~320 (labor + parts)
Local shop (Belle tires): ~180 (labor + parts).
And I called my insurance company, and i was told that it is covered, lucky me.

So, call your insurance company first. If not covered, shop around. And good luck.
