Looks like you are looking at medium price range. I think two not bad:

If you like euro cars, look at Jetta 2.5 gas engine - 5 cylinders, very inexpensive - about the same price to Corolla, but it's built much stronger than corolla.

For American cars, check out Chevy Malibu.
