You may have an engine proble. Such problem associates with the engine speed, as you heard the clicking sound. If you can tell whether the sound is synchronized with the engine spped, or half the engine speed, you will can better pin pointif this is on the crankshaft or on the camshaft. Camshaft problem will lead to insufficicent valve opening and that will reduce engine performance, and lead to engine stall also.
Do you have a way to measure the oil gallery pressure? Generally the pressure should be around 20-60 PSI, and each increase of 1000 rpm of engine speed will increase the pressure by 10 PSI. If you notice a low oil pressure, then you have internal engine oil leak.
My guess is that your car may have one journal bearing or one cylinder leak(less likely), and the entire gallery oil pressure droppes, then you have less lubrication, and engine load increases. That is the cause of engine stall. It seems to me that cooling is another problem in additional to engine problem. The other possibility would be a bad sensor or computer problem, but I highly doubt it. So my feeling is to solve the engine noise symptom first. Two diagnoses, the main gallery pressure test, and the compression test, will give you a quick answer.
