Camry V6 is really faster than BMW, VW Turbo?

In many articles, they said Carmy 0-60mph only took 6.x seconds which is faster than the BMW 3,5,7 Series and Passat,Jetta Turbo.

However, the test is in the extreme driving condition. The engine is running in a very high RPM.


In the normal driving condition, you will not let the engine turn up to 6000rpm. you will accerlate more smoothly and keep the engine under 4000rpm to protect the engine.

Carmy 's V6 engine may do a good job on the high RPM(or reach its peak horsepower in the high RPM).But VW turbo and BMW are performing better (higher horsepower or torque ) in a lower RPM which is our normal driving condition. Therefore, you can feel that they accerlate better in the normal driving even though their maximum horsepowers is much smaller than Carmy V6.
