买二手车,该注意哪些问题?

刚看中一辆二手车,已下了$1000订金,说好周末去取车,因为卖主是一家个人车行,很小,总共在卖的车就6,7辆,但都是高档车.我要买的车,没有CERTIFIED,也没有SAFETY　check 过，卖主倒是提供了车的 records，好像没有出过事故。车也是看上去没有大的scartch，厂方保险要到2007年到期。因为第一次买二手车，我不知道，我还要去做哪些检测？那些问题我还要注意些？要不要去车行检测呢？
请有经验的大虾们给与指点。

我的车的情况如下：
LEXUS RX300, 2004, milage: 34,000. Price $25,000 before tax.
