1. shift N-D while moving. actually, whether it is ok or not is depends on the design of trans, but that it is not my point here, my point is it is UNNECESSARY!! even with trans which its design is ok with shift, each time u doing this the trans will disengage and engage once (D-N then N-D), the trans will worn out much quicker than others. BTW, bonbon, ur clutch theory has nothing to do with this.
2. engine brake. again, it is true brake COULD overheated and lost its effectiveness, but that is not my point here, I am not saying brake overheate will not happen, just for today's car (when I say car in here, I mean the personal vehicle we drive, not 18 wheeler), for today's road, for today's people who visit this site, brake overheat will not happen. and I am REALLY curious bonbon, where did u get that 15-20 minuts limit?
3. about towing, again, that is not my point! I am just telling him the only situation u REALLY need to put trans in N is ur car need be towed or pushed. about subaru, bonbon, could you tell me which gear u will choice when u need put it on a flatbed?
