Admissions committee has to select medical students based on their hard core bench markers for example sGPA and MCAT score in the intial evaluation of the applicant.  Unfortunately, in general, male premed kids are not good as females. Also, female premed kids are much more aggressive than males in pursuing medical school admissions related EC. Everyone in the community knows it.
