During my kid's freshman orientation, they were told "We know you all graduated in the top of your class in high school, and many of you are valedictorians and have perfect SAT scores. But 95% of you will no longer be in the top 5% of the class here in college". So when you attend a competitive school, you need to have proper perspective/expectation besides being academically prepared.
