Application to SSP is competitive with an acceptance rate

Application to SSP is competitive with an acceptance rate barely higher than 10%. Each summer, the SSP Astrophysics program accepts 72 high school students (most of them rising seniors), with 36 at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and the other 36 at the University of Colorado Boulder. Every year, at the end of this 6-week long summer program, MIT, Caltech, and Harvey Mudd visit the program and meet with the students in an effort to recruit. According to my daughter, who went to New Mexico last summer, out of the 36 students who attended the New Mexico Astrophysics prgoram last year, about 4 to 6 students were accepted this year by each of the following schools: Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, and Harvey Mudd.
