It is the market, the hundreds of investors, analysts, traders, put a price on your profit through their demand and supply for your company stock, everyday. Your cabbage is being observed, scrutinized, and repriced everyday. You can’t ignore them.
Can any publicly traded company afford not paying attention to their quarterly earnings? Wait and see what will happens with their stock price, and what will happen in their boardroom. You think the board will satisfy with your claim that the cabbage is good?
Even Warren Buffet had to explain carefully about their negative net income at this year’s shareholder meeting.....that it was due to accounting rule change, etc. He couldn’t ignore the market scrutiny even though he knew his company was a good business.
A publicly traded company breathes with the market. Like it or not.
