西安地震带

The earthquake that claimed the calsualty of the most people in the world, nearly one million, happend in HuaXian, Shaanxi in 1556. The top of Qinling Range is covered with a layer of red sediments that is found at 7000 meter deepth undernearth Weinan. This red layer is Miocene in age. The area expereienced very strong crustal deformation. It is believed to be caused by the uprising Tibetan plateau due to the Indian-Asian plate collision.
